The “Superego-self Complex”: introduction                                       Oct-Nov/2026

Noting that (i) the “superego” “reacts” with “negating compensations”, (ii) the “self” “acts” upon its view of the world that is “11/12ths wrong”, and (iii) the “ego” is unable to “round & balance” its development until (post++)-teenage, it soon becomes obvious that all of the world’s “unnecessary suffering” can be traced to the “superego-self complexes” of tin-pot “regressive” authority figures. What, then, to do about one’s own “superego-ism” &/or “self-ism”?

And, yes, we have been banging on about anti-clockwise psychological development for a couple of decades now, but we can’t resist giving it another shot in the arm. The astrological “tradition” (that has, to an extent, extended into its “modern” era) has failed to account for the “ego-Self axis”… this is a significant reason why astrology is a no-no for theologians. CHAPTER 1: CAPRICORN ON THE M.C. THROUGH            Dec/2026

Evolution can be “tri-vided” into running, hunting & mating but, in any event, many species, especially Homo sapiens, would evolve a “pattern recognition” capacity that assists all (3) vectors of survival. In Homo sapiens, “pattern recognition” leads to the “integration” of (i) physical Darwinism & physical Lamarckism & (ii) (what Jung called) the psychological “divine drama” that afflicts (heals?) its physical evolution.

CHAPTER 2: AQUARIUS ON THE M.C. THROUGH                 Jan/2027

One of the “good” aspects of the (structural, dynamic) “superego” is that it can protect the “neotenic” (= human) psyche against the ‘11 tricks’ & ‘12 confusions’ that dominate the “raw” archetypal realm. When Aquarius is placed on the M.C., however, this “good” aspect can be compromised. The best approach is to examine “narcissism” in an expansive way… “primary” & “secondary” & “tertiary” (see: “Interlude A”)

CHAPTER 3: PISCES ON THE M.C. THROUGH                       Feb/2027

The composing of this essay series, in large part, sources to our recent study of the birth horoscope of singer-songwriter, Joni Mitchell… specifically, the connections of (i) “visibility (yet-not-consciousness)” to the M.C., (ii) music to the sign, ‘12 Pisces’, (iii) 1st personal musical taste to the sign, ‘2 Taurus’, the 2nd house & Venus, & (iv) 1st personal maternal-emotional nourishment to the Moon/I.C.’s “path” to the 5th house.

CHAPTER 4: ARIES ON THE M.C. THROUGH                          Mar/2027

When the astrologer ‘1 begins’ his/her study, s/he will view ‘1 Aries’ as the sign of “beginnings”. Fair enough… but, when s/he considers Jung’s “functions” (“sensing tells me that something exists…”), s/he ‘1 begins’ to wonder about the degree to which ‘1 Aries’ is also the 4th sign of (what can called) the “collective sequence”, Capricorn-Aquarius-Pisces-Aries. Things may not be “(this time, it’s) personal” until ‘2 Taurus’.

CHAPTER 5: TAURUS ON THE M.C. THROUGH                       Apr/2027

Given that “authority” has, for centuries, preferred physical facts over the inner life (even to the point of rejecting inner life!), the Freudastrologer can only but worry when individuals who have the Bull on their (respective) M.C.s are in charge (this is a present-day problem). It gets even worse when we realize that this M.C. is necessarily paired with an ‘8 Scorpio’ I.C., an angle that can only be growth-fully understood in immaterial terms.ђꝜ

CHAPTER 6: GEMINI ON THE M.C. THROUGH                         May/2027

If the FA-er has cause to worry over the Bull M.C., s/he might have double cause to worry over the Twins M.C., especially given the possibility that the Bull has been providing Gemini with philosophical support from the 9th house. The sooner that the Twins-M.C. individual experiences the balance of ‘7 Libra’ on/near his/her ascendant the better and, with tricky Aquarius up ahead, let’s hope that his/her ‘7 experience’ is “good”.   

CHAPTER 7: CANCER ON THE M.C. THROUGH                        Jun/2027

Cancer on the M.C,, not dissimilar to Taurus on the M.C., has the problem of a “difficult” sign, Capricorn, straddling the “me-in-here” I.C.. To deal with this difficulty well, the individual who is ‘4–10-ed’ needs to make the most of his/her 30° of ‘7 Libra’ on/near his/her ascendant. On the upside, and even if there is a degree of “compensation”, ‘4’’s “personal-ness” helps to remind him/her that self-responsibility precedes social responsibility.

CHAPTER 8: LEO ON THE M.C. THROUGH                            Jul/2027

Those who have Leo on their M.C., not dissimilar to those who have Cancer on their M.C., have the problem of a “difficult” sign, Aquarius, on the I.C.. Freud had the fortune of having the rulers of his “vertical axis”, the Sun & Uranus, conjunct in the 7th house… most Leo on the M.C.s, however, don’t have these ‘beacons’. Yep, they will have other natal placements that indicate a positive attitude to “complexity”. They will need them.
